232 hooked to a TC-904. Ring gear teeth on the flexplate are pretty chewed up. Time for replacement. I can replace the whole flexplate or I can get just the ring gear that welds on to the flexplate for half the price.

Anybody ever replace just the ring gear on one of these? How hard is it to do?

Biggest problem is getting the new gear ring in alignment with the flex plate. Also, know that the gear ring and the flex plate are dissimilar metals and choose your welding method appropriately.

If you replace just the ring gear, you are guaranteeing that the flexplate will fail on the first long trip you take.

'Ol Murphy will be riding with you in the passenger seat when this happens.

While its apart, have a new hub put on the torque converter. They crack.
