Most of the racers and truck pullers in the area use this guy because he really knows what he is doing. I must say I can't really take all the credit for the power it makes. My buddy ported the heads and did some combustion chamber work. He also made some mods to the torker manifold and lightened the crank. I figured out the pistons, worked with Bullet on the cam and harland sharpe on the rockers. They needed to have an .100" offset on the intakes because when my buddy did up the heads, he had to sleeve the push rod holes to get rid of the "bump".

Also, there goes my theory about the eddy heads holding it back. I was thinking their small runners was limiting how much air/fuel was getting to the cylinders.

I also had to run 91 octane gas - we're not lucky enough to get 93 up here in Minnesota.

It's nice to hear that someone else got results that were in the ballpark as mine so I know I am not leaving anything "on the table"

567 hp on 91 octane! That is impressive.

Thanks Rick.. I quit because if you look closely at those edelbrock heads..you have to take the headers off to get the plugs out..I had an iron head flange,an indy flange then edelbrock needed something different yet. All because the spark plugs are all located different and the adapter type flange set-up caused interference...I plan to eventually come back out with a new design with a traditional flange.(They will be 1-3/4-1-7/8 stepped because a big tube and a regular flange doesn't work together well). After that happens I will have this style available again also for guys that can use them..

"My" Landis headers should work quite nicely in my Hornet if I ever get to it..Thumbs Up
BTW.. Our Buddy did maximize every part in the E85 engine. The heads were reworked and epoxy'd by Barry, went through a garage fire, welded and reworked again to get the flow numbers that our Buddy wanted.  I know that he had two different cams in there and degreed them like 8 times each before he installed the one he wanted.   Well, we did have to send one of them out for rework because Comp didn't quite get it right by locating one of the Cam journals off by about .060".  Just enough that a lifter would hang up on it.  Typical I guess.  The engine is going in to a American.

It was a reasonably easy build. The only thing that gave me some trouble was having to chamfer the rod bearings due to the width of the SBC connecting rod. Other than that, it went together very nicely.
