Definitely want the kick down. Lokar makes one. These transmission will burn up pretty quick without a correctly set up kick down.

Yes, use the locker kick down kit and if you can find a 4.0 Jeep with a 904 (or a 998) in it, the hardware will be on it too. The parts are removed from the shaft on the transmission all the way up to the intake manifold.
Drive shaft is not a problem, they can be made easily for a reasonable price.

Passing gear linkage is the same between 727 and 9XX. 6 is different than 8 cyl though.
