The reproduction of early Hornet tail light lenses is progressing as we speak. These havnt been produced for over 30 years since the mid 80's when AMC US done their last batch of these sought after lenses. Going by the quality of the other AMI items Gary has produced these will be a beaut addition to our broken, missing, scratched , faded and tatty one's we near all have now on our Hornet's and will be popular both here in Australia and the US. Will be good to have a spare on the shelf for a rainy day too
While they are still a few months off Gary can be contacted on 0416645334 or visit www.toyotaheritage.com and pop him an email to secure yourself a set He is also reproducing the Australian only AMI front guard and rear 1/4 badges soon. Be sure to secure you pair of these sought after items. I have never seen a perfect one on a car nor any NOS one's so looking forward to getting a pair of these

A local Albury fella has this Hornet for sale if anyone is interested. Looks like a good project and is better starting project then it looks in my photo's. And comes with spare parts and panels etc. He doesn't want too much for it, I think around the $3000 mark which is pretty good these days for a solid starter Hornet. PM me if interested and i can pass on his details

Hi, after finding this thread, I realize this is the hornet I purchased late 2019. It's pretty much as pictured at the moment, but without the rear glass and has 20" rear and 18" front rims. Some panels have also been swapped (probably from the spares referred to in the ad). Was originally big bad orange under the red re-coat. I was told that the cross-member has been modded to suit a ford drivetrain and the mounts seem to support this. Hopefully will get more time to dig deeper in coming weeks and will post info regarding body number when I get the chance - keen to ensure it is on the register. |

I saw that car in person and looked to be a nice restorer.
The car was set up for a Ford Windsor If the dash pad is still in it I loved how they recoevered it. The best I have seen and would love to know where it was done On saying that I shouldve asked the son of the guy who built that car originally back in early 80's from memory. The son was thinking of buying it back for his dad but it didnt eventuate for whatever reason. If I find the guys details somewhere I will pass them on as you may be able to ask him some questions And the Aussie ones are at least 50 years old this month. July 1970 was when they started putting them together down at Australian Motor Industries (AMI) in Melbourne for a September release date which was put to October as far as I know Enjoy your Hornet mate. They are fun cars to have

Thanks Chris. Your Hornet is still the newest 1970 I know about in 6-71. The 71's followed the next month/ #873 is the highest 70 body number so far.
