I ordered a new modulator (small one in the photo) and I don't believe it is correct? It is identical with one in the APD Parts catalogue. I removed mine and the rod seems to be too long and it won't screw in. Is mine (the larger one in the photo) even the correct one? With so many wrong parts and applications on my 70 AMX, I'm guessing the prior owners put the wrong one in just like the wrong Master Cyl & Booster. Thanks in advance for any help.

I ran into the same issue with my M12. The longer one shown in the picture is what I have installed. I ended up testing and reusing the existing one.

My 68 AMX M12 has the long vacuum modulator as in the picture you posted.

Thanks guys. I'll re-install my original. The TSM has some good tips on how to adjust it.

My understanding is that each modulator pictured uses a length different rod. For it to work right you need to have the correct rod for the modulator.

So I have read your post reguarding the modulator issues, I have the long one also, and ordered a replacement and recived a short one in it's place, the rod is an issue, I now find that the old modulator( the long one) is bad, leaking trans fluid at vacumn port so I need to find a long one...any help locating a good one ? Any help is appreciated

Maybe cut the rod down then you can use the short one.

DON"T CUT THE RODS DOWN. There are at least two different lengths of rods. Ford used the same large modulator on latter Lincolns, from what I'm told. They should be available just got to ask for the right one.  Been there , done that. LRDaum
