Has anyone tried putting a 90's jeep rear on a Javelin? I would like to have a limited slip with disc. Thought it might be an easy fix. I was thinking an XJ rear. Maybe a Grand Cher rear. Any thoughts guys?

Early ones, the jeep pumpkin is way offset compared to the javelin one, but the centre section parts are interchangeable if they are both AMC20. Seems people swap the ford 8.8 exploder? one but I don't know the details. You should find plenty of details on here with a quick search.

I would thing one of the modern locker centres would be the best option but will cost a few dollars.

I was gonna do an Auburn limited slip 3rd, Moser axles, and rear disc set from Summit. Started adding up. In the long run, I probably will. But, for short term, I was hoping for an easy junk yard swap to play with.

The Jeep D35 isn't as strong as an AMC 20, but the one piece axles make it stronger than an AMC 15 (which is virtually the same axle). The D35 would b fine for a street/strip car, and will hold up for quite a while with a modest drag car. The offset isn't an issue as long as you have room under the car -- depends on how the exhaust is run. Explorers have an offset as well, but work. 93+ Ranger 8.8" axles have less offset, and are 1.5" narrower, but use drum brakes. Explorer disc brakes can be adapted though. As I said, the offset isn't an issue, it won't cause vibration.

I understand swapping axles sounds easy, but installing a trac lok or twin grip isn't really that tough.
For a couple hundred bucks and some time you could put a used twin grip differential in your existing AMC20. Just find one that fits your existing gear ratio. For a bit more you could install new clutch plates and spider gears.
