Not very clear to me in the TSM but where does the air cleaner pull it's vacuum from, what port? I want the warm up flap to work for better warm up. Thanks

I would say it goes from a port on the carburetor, then goes to a vacuum switch then to the vacuum motor

There is a hose to the air cleaner snorkel from the carbon cannister, but I don't think there is any vacuum fed from the engine to the TAC system. That hose provides a vent from the cannister to burn the fuel vapor captured in teh cannister.
The TAC system is operated by the spring pressure built into it and the air flow coming through the snorkel. I'll check my Pacer to make sure in a few minutes. Joe

I just checked my 75 Pacer and my description was correct. My TSM says the six cylinder design is the same as I described for 75. The V8 air cleaner does have a vacuum connection though. But I thought the Pacer in question was a six. Joe

Ok checking the TSM for the later six cylinder 49 state system (non-Eagle) that vacuum port is connected to a port on the Carburetor. It's not shown whether the vacuum is manifold vacuum or ported vacuum, but I think is safe to assume it would be manifold vacuum. The information is from the 1980 TSM by which time thinks got pretty complicated. Joe

The bottom picture? On my 74, its the gas tank vapor hose. It goes from a steel line to that port by a hose. (My 74 Gremlin doesnt have a charcoal canister )

Update: I hooked the vacuum line to the carb base. This morning I pumped the carb twice to set choke and fast idle cam, hit the key started right up and flapper valve worked as it should. Closed on start and opened when warmed up.
Joe I know what you mean about the TSM or should I say about the 3 TSM's thst are required to service this car.I was lucky all 3 came with the car (Thanks Geezer) Edited by Freecat1 - Feb/01/2015 at 12:58pm |
