I have 15x8 rims with 4 1/5 back spacing all around and was wondering if 235/60 and 275/60 would fill out the wheel wells or will I have room to go with larger widths all around. I have a bone stock suspension. I am looking at going with Cooper Cobras or Goodrich.
Also is a 28 dia tire to large for the front? Thx for the advice. |

I have 15 X 8's all around on my 73 Javelin with Goodrich T/A's 235/60 on the front and 255/60 on the rear. If I remember right, I have 4 1/4" back spacing on the front and 4" on the rear. Do you have 4 1/2 backspacing?? If so, you shouldn't have problems with the rear but the fronts might rub. Mine rub on certain turns in reverse and I use to have problems going forward but poly strut rod bushings stopped that. Mine sits so that the wheel opening is an inch above the top of the tire.

Yes that was a typo, the backspacing is 4 1/2 for each rim.
Thanks for the info. Thanks |

I have just purchased a 1970 Javelin. I have 4 restored 15 X 8 center line wheels. Will these fit ok under the Javelin and if so what size tire should I mount on them?

That depends on the actual backspacing. They are not all the same.

If you're not familiar with how to measure backspacing, here's a site that shows you. http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html
