I'm planning on installing my HEI in the 258 next weekend and I was wondering what degree before top dead center should I run it at?
The cam is stock for now and I am running a 4 barrel carb, but I am getting the HEI electronics all wired in and everything kind of setup before I upgrade the cam. Thanks! |

If you have a vacuum gauge, I set it just before the highest idle vacuum point is reached. Probably @10BTDC but it depends on gas, altitude

Between 8 - 12° is a good range, in my experience. Don't forget your spark plug gap, though. 0.045" is a good place to start there.
