I like the look of the dual cast iron manifolds. Although unless my eyecromter is failing me, it looks like the front manifold is heading straight for the cross member on the Americans. The earlier manifold fit quite nicely.

The cast iron manifolds only work well with the head they are designed for. The ID isn't as large as the older head. The 2000-2006 head has smaller exhaust ports, but they have a better shape and produce more power up to about 3500 rpm. After that you still get more power, but it doesn't rise as much as with the older larger port head. The late head is a much better street and maybe rock crawling head, high rpm racers are better served with the 91-99 design.

The siamesed intake/exhaust manifold lasted till late '81 along with the tin valvecover. When they went plastic cover, the manifolds were separated.

This is good. I don't have the skill/space to rebuild the motor and do the head swap myself, so I've been looking at long stock blocks. The block is an '80, but I'd imagine they can rebuild it to any year's factory specks, no?< id="hc_extension_off">< id="hc_extension_highcontrast">< id="hc_extension_highcontrast_back">< id="hc_extension_grayscale">< id="hc_extension_grayscale_back">< id="hc_extension_invert">< id="hc_extension_invert_back">< id="hc_extension_invert_grayscale">< id="hc_extension_yellow_on_black">< id="hc_extension_yellow_on_black_back">

That's good advice, I'll see what I can do for $3500!< id="hc_extension_off">< id="hc_extension_highcontrast">< id="hc_extension_highcontrast_back">< id="hc_extension_grayscale">< id="hc_extension_grayscale_back">< id="hc_extension_invert">< id="hc_extension_invert_back">< id="hc_extension_invert_grayscale">< id="hc_extension_yellow_on_black">< id="hc_extension_yellow_on_black_back">

You can change the intake to the later separated from exhaust one too, but get both!
