I still use conventional Walmart oil in the blue jugs.
From 1967 to 1971 SAE certification for motor oil for spark ignited engines was SD. Since then they have gone through SE, SF, SG, SH, SJ, SL, SM and today new oil is SN. I figure SN oil is more than good enough for my engines that were designed to use SD. SAE upgrades as tolerances get tighter, temps increase, smaller engines are expected to do more, more turbos are used, ethanol is introduced and service life increases. Oil that is certified higher is backward compatible for older engines. Good enough for my old machines. Edited by 6768rogues - Oct/21/2014 at 12:39pm |

I went to the website of Oil Extreme last night and emailed them requesting the MSDS sheets on the product. They sent them this afternoon [4 pages].
It must be some miracle product, because chemically it's harmless unless you get it in your eyes...hazardous class 1 even then. But it's also not biodegradable. |

I must have been glazing over by that point because I missed those. My bad. The article is interesting but becomes mind-numbing after awhile. |

I wouldn't doubt that. I don't think Walmart owns a refinery yet, and with their volume I would expect that their supplier is one of the larger players in the market. |

Most you can take with a grain of salt, its been argued over on speedtalk for a few yrs he always pitches it.
The testing method of which we dont know what it is most likely is not comparative to what an engine experiences so with that dont just assume the #1 on list is any better than the #120.

Yeah I remember the guy coming into our shop with tin cans of slick 50 and him telling us that it penetrated the steel and formed a layer of protection. One of the guys said wow what kind of special steel is the can made of then, hahahaha. They went to plastic soon after.
