904 transmission just purchased,converter has a sticker that says hi stall? looked up # from a 232 6

If i recall correctly, that just means it's for a 6-cyl.  The 6-cyl converters stalled higher than the V-8 models.  Can't remember the numbers, but that's what I heard when I redid mine.

Make sure you inspect the converter for cracks around the drive hub and input shaft area.  Mine had some hairline cracks, and only 50K original miles.

Oh, and a "hi-stall" wouldn't mean that it's like a higher than stock feeling either, just a standard part.  If you're running a cam, you'd still want something that matched your setup.

Just note that there is lockup and non-lockup converters which are different. Pre '78 are all non-lockup stock. If you have tall gears, the hi-stall helps you get going.
