Has anybody ever tried to swap a 304 v8 into an eagle ? I know it's considered impossible because of the oil pan front axel mount issue, but has anyone tried yet. ? I'm thinking about giving this a try as I have 5 eagles and a spare 304 and matching trans laying around. Also have access to a great machinist and shop . Am I alone here ?

I helped a guy this past weekend test fit a 5.3L in his Eagle. I don't know how wide a AMC V8 is at the oil pan, but we kept the engine/differential mounts attached to the car and with a little cut, was able to slide the 5.3L right in. Those will be attached to the block with some fabbed mounts. As long as the oil pan clears the front diff, I don't see why a V8 swap would be so difficult if you can handle a little fab work. The engine needs to go back and down a little in the pic. But we needed to reposition a chain that was holding it up.

Driveshaft angle has to be pretty precisely matched or the vibes will snap it off and take out the motor or tcase. The Eagle 6 cyl is NOT centered due to the front driveshaft clearance issue
