I believe they make a tool for the over center spring.

Now that you mention it. I have a return from the throwout arm to the bell instead of throwout arm to z bar.

"I believe they make a tool for the over center spring." A judiciously placed screwdriver will get it off. It's the part about getting it back on that will give one fits. Clamp the short end of the spring in a stout vice and rock the spring back & forth. Put nickels (remember them?) between the coils of the spring - one side then the other. Use pennies if you're cheap; they work also. Put enough between the coils to stretch the spring to fit over the stud. When the spring is in place, step on the clutch pedal and all the nickels/pennies will fall out leaving the spring hooked on the stud.
