Can someone tell me the correct pinion angle for a 1970 Amx rearend?

You need to measure the angle of the output shaft of the trans, then set the pinion 1 to 2 degrees lower.   That way, when the pinion twists up under power, the angles are approx. equal.

I didn't look in the TSM but I'm thinking there is no pinion angle for factory stock.

but,

What if the car is going to be road raced?

Under engine braking does the axle wrap down?

Is a neutral setting with the output yoke of the trans and the shaft of the pinion parallel, but offset up or down a bit the way to go?

or

Maybe the correct way to do it is with the pinion angle 1 to 2 degrees lower because of the acceleration periods exceeding the deceleration periods?

Any experience anyone?

Remove the Isoclamps to cut down the spring twist. Bigger spring plates help too.
