Rambler finally running...noticed a leaked coming from a hose along the firewall...can someone explain this to me...Help a NOOB out...thanks

No mystery. Your heater control valve is leaking....replace it.

BTW, your 196 sounds great! With some practice, you'll learn how to tighten up those valves just enough to take most of the "clack" out of the engine. The TSM instructions are a good starting point. You can run that 196 with the valve cover off, without taking an oil bath. From there, you should learn where YOUR engine is happiest. Experimentation is a GOOD thing! Listen to your engine, she'll tell you where she needs to be. Wink Just so you know, It takes me at least 3 attempts to get the valves adjusted right, and I've owned, built, and driven my '64 since 1993.
