'69 Rambler - out goes the 199 and in will eventually go a '67 4bbl 343 I have. I also have an M12 to bolt to it. I'm suspecting I'll need a different crossmember for the tranny. I'm also open to opinions on this combination. I'm wanting to stick with the stock 343 - plenty of power without fear of my kid getting carried away when he drives it. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Really? you think a stock 343 isn't going to have enough power to worry about?

I'm just sayin....

Even bone stock a 343 in a 69 Rambler is going to be pretty much a hand full.

Now if you built it and let me take it over LOL

I wish my dad would have let us put the 343 4 speed we found in a wrecking yard in our 65 American.
He flat out refused to let us do it and we, my brother and I, were already bracket racing our other cars. Arg...

All the Americans used the Alum. case trans, but IIRC all the trans mounts on the warners ( Alum. iron & the 4 Spds.) are in the same place .

Many years ago a friend was killed with a hi-perf combo.  In this instance, he pegged the accelerator coming out of a turn where it picked up the front wheels and put him straight into a tree.  Don't think the stock 343 has that ability......a 390 or 401, probably.  So yeah, the 343 is plenty powerful, but not obscenely so.

So the T-10 was the stock match with the 343?
