The picture is from the 1975 Technical Service Manual.  And it goes to show that a resistor is not necessary because it already has built-in resistance wire.  Or had you not been paying attention this whole time? Wink

It could also prove that geriatrics should not be allowed on the internet! LOL

A document not labeled and only shows one half of the wiring connections leaving no clue at all where the other half goes shows nothing.
And proves nothing
Nor does it by inference indicate that other years or models have the same situation.  So if the internet net needs some kind of a policing to insure reliable information is transmitted, maybe there should be some form of intelligence testing take place first. But Oh No, if it is on the internet it must be true, no matter how poor the supporting data is Disapprove

Is it just me or does anyone else think this thread has outlived its usefulness. It is no longer about setting the timing but has become a ego battle. Enough already !

Agreed.  My mother once told me to never argue with an idiot. They only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Well dang it... I didn't really think the question would cause such a problem.

I'm going to go out tomorrow and see if I can sniff the wires out, and get the points-style distributor in.  Thank you all for your help !
