I bought a Gremlin drag car that is set up for a chevy engine.  Being my first drag car in 24 years since quitting in 1990, I am looking to start out without spending a pile of money (when I quit in 1990 I was running an alcohol funny car).  I have the car, the chevy engine, but need to know if there is a header out there that will fit or will it have to be custom made?  I have a stroker AMC engine-421 C.I.-putting out over 700 HP on spray, built by Ken Smith - but I really want to get my feet wet with the "training motor" before redoing the car and having a transmission built, new convertor, etc. to see if I enjoy it as much as previously.  Any help is much appreciated.  Thanks, Dean

I know for a fact that headers from a 1968 to 72 camaro or nova fit. Friend of mine used them when he had a sb chevy in his. Big tubes too. I beleive his were hooker super comp ones. But he had regular headmans on before that. He know has a 401.

Hi Dean,

Have the same setup and super comp headers from 68 Camaro or Chevelle, can't recall which. It took some massaging with hammer to clear steering shaft connection. Also some placement jiggling when lowering engine into place. Had to cut a wrench to get at header bolts after as well. They did fit and work well though considering the above. My car still has stock front end. If the picture in your message (cool car!) is yours and the one in question I assume it's not a stock front end, so you should have vastly more option than I did.

Regards,
Sam
