near the upper Michigan/wisconsin state line I was on a fire lane which turned into the atv trail at that corner so I turned around and headed back

A bit late to the post 2020 now so here's how I cheated to use a simple winch mine is for a atv size 2500lbs pull with a snatch block it's very capable of moving a real vehicle  I mounted it on a square of 1/4 inch steel drilled two 3/4 inch holes at the back of the plate corners then used clevises to run my chains to the frame rails put jumper cables clamps to the leads of the winch it a very simple portable setup fitted in the trunk of my old nova  with a tub to hold the chains as long as you can get power to it your in business  I've also setup a trailer hitch mounted one for my Comanche hitches front an back with quick connections  ,,
A heads up for those remote controller winches be sure your power is cut off my buddy had his live and found out some garage opener triggered his winch and it bent his high dollar bumper badly!!
