Check the yellow circles, can I ASSume these are seatbelt mounting points? The car, as it came, had no belts. Were they optional for '63 or did I just not get them?
Thanks! Russ |

Those would be the rear mounting points for your front seats.

Back in the day, my '63 American had factory belts (lap only).

In 1963 you can pretty much bet that ANYTHING other than an engine, trans, and 4 wheels/tires was OPTIONAL. You even had to pay for anti-freeze. Whoever originally ordered your car didn't want seatbelts. BTW, those circled points don't seem to be back far enough to be seatbelt mountings. If I'm not mistaken those are the front mounting points for your seats. If a bench the two outer ones are used. If individual, two for each seat.

Those are the "required by law" attaching points for front seat belts. All you need to do to use them is remove the short bolts put in place at the factory, and bolt in your seatbelts. Rear points are indented on '62's and up, but not drilled or reinforced with a welded nut like the front ones.
Front seat belts became "standard" on most American cars, only after required by law on cars built after January 1, 1965. (Rears were added in 1966 as standard, and then each occupant position in 1968, along with shoulder belts.) |

OK, thanks! The entire floor is now gone, so I'm looking at alternative mount points for lap/shoulder retractable belts. I'm hoping the B pillar will be strong enough for an upper, the lowers shouldn't be a problem. Julianos's can fix me up once I get the mounts in...
