Great job Scott.. I have been following your progress all along. Many of you pictures and explanations have helped me tremendously on my own 68 AMX restoration project. I am about ready to reinstall the interior and I will be purchasing a new repro head liner as you have done. I didn't think about it until I saw you installing your head liner but I do not have a way to reference where the holes for the visors will go.. You had the old headliner for reference. My car did not have a headliner. Have you ever considered producing a template for this application and making it available for sale to us who need this information. Once again Good Work
Joe PS I just picked up your new book on AMX & Javelin restoration and it is just loaded with great information. Well worth the purchase price |

Joe, that isn't a bad idea. The "blanks" on the new headliner where the visors go don't really help to position the holes. Let me see what I can do. |

I found that they were close enough to allow you to drill a small hole, and you can then see where you need to drill the larger hole. The sun visor bracket will hide it you get it wrong, as long as you're not off by too much. |

Ohio AMX.. You did a great job on this AMX.. The information you provided has been extremely helpful with my own 68 AMX restoration project.. I see that you installed a one of the repro headliners. I will be doing the same . I have a question for you. You said that you needed to trim the headliner. What type of tool did you use..Did you have to trim all the edges or just the sides where in fits into the mounting slots..
Thanks Joe |
