Is there a trick to removing the ignition switch electrical connectors on a 70 AMX? I dont want to damage them. I tried all of the typical "squeeze and pull" methods. They wont budge.

On 70 AMX it is an GM Ignition Switch, 2 pieces, there is a push tab on top and you have to pull the on "side" off, before the other.

68/69 Ignition Switch is TOTALLY different, the easy way is remove switch from dash, put hand under dash and turn the switch while pushing in and holding the bezel on the outside, front of dash.  Once you have the bezel off, pull the switch below the dash and "unlatch" the 3 plastic tabs from switch housing and remove the switch wiring connector.

Hope this helps.

Your Ignition switch is not part of the steering column. You need to remove the mounting bezel that holds the switch to the dash panel.

thx 304-dude.  I wound up splicing wires from behind the switch to bypass the resistor wire and get 12 volts to the coil / pertronix module.
