Well, shoot. the clip I have is similar, but in photo 1, the part of the clip that slides over the hinge - both sides of my clip are like that.
It's not like this one that has the toothed area on one side, then the smoother larger area on the other. It's toothed on both sides of the "S", both sides like the one that slips over the hinge on yours.
Also, it was on the hood release support on my car............ on the horizontal part. I saw no function for it, so removed it.

It take two clips on the wire, mine only had one. And it was lower part of the hing. I allsaw got two in Kenosha.

TWO clips? Wow, I didn't figure it would have needed two, but I guess if that's original, that means that's what I need to dig up somehow. Darn, one's been hard enough to find.
