Beck and Akerlund Sales was started by a gentleman named John Beck and run in partnership with his brother-in-law, Ollie Akerlund. John was sales and Ollie was parts. After their deaths in the late 1980's the business was run by John's wife and his son Neil, until it closed several years later. Neil still lives in the area and can be found in the Havre phone book if you have specific questions.

Thanks, Rick. I bought a red 1977 Matador Barcelona coupe last year that supposedly belonged to one of the partners until only a couple of years ago. That doesn't seem possible with your data, so I'll have to try to call Neil. I bought the car on eBay from someone who did construction and took the car as payment for a showroom remodel. Any of this make sense and/or do you have any recollection of the car?

Hal,
At the time Ollie passed away he owned a metalic red Matador. His widow kept it for a few years, but she remarried several years ago and I believe the car is gone from her home. Neil's phone # is 406 265 5553. Neil was a mechanic and part owner of the business, and has owned several AMC's as well as other nice cars. If nothing else a call could lead to a good bull session.
