Thanks for both replies to this question. It will make my search for
a replacement shaft and hub less difficult. Rather than replacing the
entire axle housing, all I wish to do is obtain a replacement axle shaft
& hub (hopefully as a set which has not been taken apart) I am still
bewildered as to why or how the hub on my 86 Eagle (rear left side) broke away or sheared away the serrations and thus became separate parts resulting in driveshaft turning and car not going. The axle shaft
is in one piece but the serrations are wiped out and the end is chewed
up. Crazy things happen.

It may have been changed with an older one before or hit a curb sideways in the snow/mud. It could've been serviced wrong too.
