Just my opinion, but unless you just want the visual "wow" factor, $245 buys a brand new NOS Powershot system rated at 125hp. You can fill up a LOT of bottles with $6.2K. You can also keep your serpentine belt, your A/C, and Edelbrock carb (yuck). Just sayin . . . Wink

and you ould build a nitrous engine and have $$ left over to boot! cool idea but way out of my league for 125 rwhp...I could spray and blow up and replace a few engines for that kinda dough!

this was sent to me from Matt at Bulltear and should be here early this week. its in his online store for $469.99. you can get a supercharger head unit used for reasonable money. getting everything else pieced together isn't a big deal.

this is going to be bolted to it

and it should look something like this, this is going to be fun!!!

What compression will you be running on that setup you are pulling together?

Centrifugal blowers(procharger/vortech/Paxton etc) can run more compression since they don't build a lot of low-mid RPM boost. They build a big head of steam as the RPMs climb at the top of the Tach. Since the piston is at TDC for less time with the extra cylinder pressure you can run more compression safely. The extra compression will help down low. NA compression is pretty close with this style.

A positive displacement blower has more cylinder pressure down low because its instant boost at just about any RPM. So a drop in compression is required in comparison to centrifugal/NA at same boost level most of the time.

But also depends on fuel used, combustion chamber design and material type.

WOW..the day is finally here. AWESOME. Given the look of the high quality of those pieces the price is a bargain!

And yes there are lots of used good superchargers out there so if you shop wisely and have a block in good sondition/forged pistons someone can make 600 horsepower relatively cheaply out of a 390 and 401..even the 343 and 360 can make streetable insane power with a cetrifigul supercharger.   Don't need radical camshafts, wild induction systems or an 8-71 anymore...but the 8-71 still wins for killer street machine looks.
Also dont need low rear gears either since boost is instant as it spins up, and so is torque.   Big advantage over nitrous since the power is there ALL the time, not just when its being injected through a bottle. Just think how expensive nitrous would be if it were being injected ALL the time to be able to supply the power all the time...sounds silly right?     It all fits under the hood and can even add intercooling and E85 for redicoulous horsepower.

This is a great leap forward for AMC V8's! Been a looong time comming to get these.

A TORKER intake is PERFECT for one of these setups.
