Hi,
I was hoping someone could tell me what size mc bore a '63 classic/ ambassador would have if it came with power brakes. I have manual drums right now but I'm interested in swapping to a power brake system, retaining the drums all around. Also if you know what size booster normally came with these systems that would be great too. Thanks! Graham |

in it's 30 years, AMC/Rambler used only three different master cylinder bores: 1", 1-1/16" and 1-1/8". I got that info from factory Technical Service Manuals. http://wps.com/AMC/Brakes/
In general, a smaller master bore will mean less pedal pressure but more pedal travel for a given brake pressure. Power discs often got the larger bore, with lots of boost that would make brakes that are a soft touch with short travel (eg. "grandma brakes"). |
