This is all I could find, at least about the race from the video.

J D. St Cyr took the money and the bragging rights in Glandon’s truck from Tim O’Moore driving Josh’s AMX. St. Cyr ran a 7.105 at 198.35 MPH to Tim’s 7.760 at 174.66 MPH for the final in the best two out of three.

That is one cool gremlin and i am not a gremlin guy. You all got some very cool cars no mater what engine you run they look like an amc amx gremlin hornet what ever model and they show the other guys just how cool amc guys are.                                                                                                           We in our ram rods amx club in the nw have some guys with a lot more money than me and even with the aluminum blocks the cranks couldn't take any more than 700-750 hp. One of our members is building a 1000 hp big inch chev 68 amx that thinks it will be in the 7s.                                                  I love 427 fords and you have a hard time making 1000 hp safely with one of them to with out spending you retirement fund and more.                                                                                              So lets just enjoy what ever kind of amc that is still out there showing their stuff no mater what kind of engine. Thanks for sharing with us! And good luck to you all!  The junk yard Dog.

Quote Even Fred Brewer eventually went to a Hemi.
Just curious, is Fred the standard to be measured against?

Maybe you could have your own reference:
"Even Steve went to an automatic"  Big smile

Do either of those make it the best or the only option?

Going to a Hemi is for quitters.  Wink  Big smile LOL

I suppose when it comes to diehard AMC look alikes that aren't reluctant to resort to nitrous oxide, you would be the obvious standard. In a conversation I had with Fred, he told me if someone could tell him how to make enough power from an AMC based engine he would be all ears. That was before Indy offored the big bore/tall deck aluminum blocks though. If anyone could bring him back into the AMC fold I figure you would be the man. After all he did devolope those mega heads that should compliment the aluminum blocks.

WTF is that supposed to mean?  An AMC look alike?  Seriously?  Did I hurt your feelings or something?Cry
Don't worry, I'll get over it.................................................................................OK, I'm over it.

And  "I'm not reluctant" to resort to nitrous?  That is funny.  Nope, I embrace nitrous with all my heart.  When was the last time you drove a 96" wheel base car with 1500hp? LOL

Fred is a cool guy and I have a lot of respect for him.  But the world didn't end when he left AMC.

BTW, did you notice that his hemi has a blower on it?  It's called a power adder, just like nitrous and turbos.  That's called Pro Mod racing.  Even I would most likely run something else if I was going to try and compete at the ProMod level.  And I don't see any reason to try to bring him back to AMC.  What would be the point?

First off I didn't realize this was an old topic and that I had already mentioned Fred Brewer's defection before. I feel loosing a person like Fred to another brand is unfortunate, not many are capable of creating things like cylinder heads.

My defination of a look alike would be a car that only consists of the origional main body cabin from the vehicle it's posing as, and I'm fully aware of the different types of power adders.

I've often praised you're ingenuty, relentless determination and you're creations performance. I cain't help but be amused at how hard you look for reasons to be offended by me. I'm afraid the reason is that you and I had different opinions regarding the connecting rod thing. It seemed to really bother you that I didn't bow my head in shame when I was told by you that I was wrong.
