I do not know if any of you just happened to notice but the AMC Aftermarket and NOS vendors seemed to have found a really good source of supply for reproduction AMX 1968-69 Chromed plastic  Seat Side Cover Plates. Clap  They have been out of reproduction for quite some time and I have seen NOS plates sell for as high as $300 each on ebay.

I have heard these new repros are quite quite nice abliet not 100% perfect but certainly very passable.

I have also witnessed that some early purchasers of these plates seem to have been putting them up on ebay and getting about 2X the amount that they purchased them for.  Hummm.Unhappy

So please be viligant.Wink

There is no need to be paying $100 per plate when you can buy them for well under half that amount. (Ooopsy... just noticed this was kind of discussed a while ago in an earlier post.. My Bad)

OK?

Getting down off the soapbox now.

You can tell the new cover by the checking out the back of the cover. The new covers have ribs around the top hole. I've seen two different sellers posting these on ebay. I am sorry if I offend anyone but both sellers are deceiving buyers. The first one advertised that he had these on the shelf for a number of years and the second seller has them advertised as "originals".  I don't have a problem with guys making a buck just don't tell bare faced lies to do it. If you choose not to say it's a reproduction that's one thing but selling a part by knowingly lying about it is not right. Let the part sell itself. These new covers have only come out within the last 3 months so buyers beware.

As it happens, I'm looking now.  And have not been impressed with the ebay offers at all.

Several people seem to have them (Galvin, Kennedy).  Any thoughts on these?

I'd contact AMark to see what's going on with the reproductions that he was in the process of making. His (and other peoples) complaints about the current reproductions is the poor quality of the chrome that is being done on them. Mark said he wants to make them like the originals (no reinforcement ribs) but with better quality chrome.
