Hi, I found an old (1981) Autometer SB-7 battery tester in my moms garage, I think it was my brothers from back in the day. The cables were all busted up and falling apart. Well I recently cleaned it up, replaced the cables and tried it out. I hooked it to my 95 Galant while it was running the selector was on volts, and it went to 14 volts,so it seems like it works correctly, but i really don't know much about this meter or how it works. Does anyone have any knowledge of this battery tester or an instruction book, that I could get a copy of ? ?

no, it's an early 80's type tester, it only has one meter on the front, i'll take some pictures and post them tomorrow or so. thanks for trying to help me out.

I think this will work:
Fully charge the battery.
Find the cold cranking rating of the battery to be tested.
Turn the load control to off.
Hook the cables to the battery.
Set the selector to amps.
Turn the load control to load the battery to one half of the cold cranking rating.
Load the battery for 15 seconds.
Set the selector to volts.
A reading of 9.6volts or higher is a 'good' battery.
Turn the load control to off.
Disconnect the tester.

Looks pretty complicated to me.
It has a knob AND a switch.
