I used a Precision diaphragm clutch set from Advance Auto when I swapped a T5 5 speed into my 390 powered 70 Rebel. The clutch pedal is pretty light. I've run it hard thru the gears with no complaints, shifting at around 5000 rpm. But, when I mash it at around 2000 rpm in 5th, I do get some slippage. Ouch  When it gets worse, I'll spend more money for a brand name made in the USA.   Scott

Mashing the throttle on a 390 T5 combo is an excellent way to break it!
OD on a T5 is only supported on one end the gears try to walk apart under high torque loads. ZING, No more 5th! I've seen them break behind sixes in Jeeps with big tires. That 390 will take it out. Downshift before you mash it.
Otherwise if the clutch holds well, don't worry about it and try not to overwork it by slipping it that way, it'll glaze and fail.
I've slipped perfectly good clutches by putting too much stuff on a car trailer. Clutch was fine after I was done towing [very carefully].
I'm not trying to flame you or anything. I just don't want to see you break your T5!!!

Thanks for the info Wrambler!!! The last thing I want to do is break this transmission. I'll be downshifting from now on. It was really laziness on my part, the 390 has plenty of torque so it doesn't seem like downshifting is needed. I only have 600 or so miles on this combo & am still getting used to it. Overdrive is NICE!!!!    Scott

I know OD is nice.
I was happy the first time I put mine in 5th at 70 mph!
Nice to hear the rpm drop and not watch the gas gauge drop as fast too!
