I'm in need of a steering wheel. I've got a stock 17" skinny wheel and it would be fine but the ancient plastic melts in my hands as I drive. Scrubbed clean, a few hours of driving with sweaty hands and my hands are black and sticky. I've cleaned it with degreaser and sealed it but eventually it starts melting again.

I know about (and think I have) a Grant adapter that fits the shaft, but I really want a large steering wheel -- 17" or so. Most aftermarket are small, I have no idea what that is the case. They also tend to be shallow, or flat. THe Rambler wheels are fairly deep.

A Rambler wheel would be fine, and doesn't need to be perfect, just not melting, lol. I own one of the funny concentric Rambler steering wheel pullers. What years fit? Are there any 17" aftermarket wheels?

Do Jeep or Willys or other non-AMC use that spline? I will have to go measure it again.

Mine's pretty fuggly, I should post a photo.

I've heard that in the 60's fords had the same spline as ramblers. Haven't tested my self, but something to look at.

Thanks! I'll look at those. I think I have a spare steering box to measure the splines. I swear I did this once but I can't find it.
