Well, after trying Alaska -- BRILLIANT suggestion -- lol -- make sure the control cable end is moving. Dunno Javelin specifics, but the dash unit operates a stiff wire insde a [brittle] plastic housing that pushes/pulls a lever in the heater valve. Some are inside the heater box, some not.
When the housing cracks the cable wire pushes the housing around under the dash instead of operating the valve. |

Morning. I had the exact same issue with my 72 Javelin AMX. 1) check your cable Tomj is correct mine was broke and I was lucky my mechanic shop could make one for me. If you don't have someone then try Control Cables Inc their website is controlcable.com. They are in California. They do not have a standard cable for the Javelin but told me if I could send them a picture of both ends and the length they could make one. 2) your heater control valve could be bad. If after removing it from the firewall test it to see if it opens and closes completely. If not then try James Tucker at heatercontrolvalve.com. He rebuilt mine for 138.00. Only the 71 and 72 Javelin used that heater control valve and there are not any new or reman ones that I could find. It is a Rankin H16 and the closet I could find was a 1957 Nash. Also check your hose routing. Mine was routed wrong. The hose from the Intake goes to the lower nipple on the heater control valve, the u-shaped hose goes from the upper nipple on the control valve to the lower nipple on the heater core and the upper nipple on the heater core goes to the water pump. Hope this helps.
