00 grease is pretty thick- like ketchup. When I google "saginaw manual steering box grease" I get a Champion brand 00 grease which says it's for MS boxes . Out of curiosity, I read some posts on GM forums and GM used to make a specific lube for the MS boxes but stopped- probably since they haven't sold them in 30 yrs. Like anything oil and grease related, everyone has a favorite: chassis grease, chassis grease mixed with 90 wt oil...

If you have new grease seals on the shafts the semi-liquid stuff won't run out... unless the shafts themselves are very worn where the seals ride. It only gets thinner (more liquid) in really hot weather. You don't turn enough to heat it up, underhood and outside temp can affect it though. Usually plenty airflow around a steering box, it's up far enough to be away from the exhaust.
