I know there is a thread somewhere, but can't seem to find it. So neither Guage works, all new harness, sending units , power through fuse for gauges. I've seen the write up about the instrument voltage regulator with using a 7805 V R and would like to know exactly what to do. It is in a 69 sc/rambler. So I believe the ivr is in the fuel gauge, and I think the 7805 trick can be done without removing cluster again. Also noticed there is no radio noise suppressor choke installed on printed circuit board just 2 empty post terminals of which one has power with key on, would this have any influence on my gauges? Thanks for any replies!

You have to have that choke or a simple piece of wire installed between the two posts. Otherwise, there is no power to the IVR and your temp and fuel gauges won't work

THANK YOU SO MUCH BIGBAD69! I thought I read something about that somewhere, but couldn't remember. I had my head cramped behind dash earlier and noticed the empty terminal looked in TSM saw the choke and wondered if it was really something that simple, but wanted confirrational before I put a jumper wire and end up shorting something else out. Just put jumper wire in and I have gauges! Now on to the next bug to work out. Thanks again!

Wouldn't it be nice if all problems were that easy to solve? The choke is there to filter switching noise from IVR. Without it, you might hear a rhythmic (about 1/2 second interval) noise come through the radio; it's just annoying, not damaging. If you do, find one of the chokes and install it (or live with it). If not, full steam ahead.

No you won;t hear it if the radio is off as it's the radio that picks up the interference. The radio doesn't work ?? Does it have the antenna connected ? You'll get nothing on an AM radio without an antenna connected and properly grounded to the body through the base of the antenna. No static, no hiss, nothing. With FM you'll hear a hiss or rushing sound when there's no antenna or no signal, not so with AM.
