McIntire Machine offered a brake kit for AMC several years ago. They used mostly Wilwood components, a custom caliper braket, and you sent them your spindles so they could machine the bolting flange thickness to suit. The kit used the Superlite 4-piston calipers - a mid-range racing caliper (better suited for use on the rear in a heavier car). The 12.19" Wilwood kits use calipers and rotors meant for light-weight cars racing on dirt. They are fine for a cruiser ... but so are stock brakes. Stock single-piston KH calipers give more clamping force and brake torque (with same CoF pads), pads have more area and thickness, rotors have more thermal mass capacity (heavier with more vanes). Main advantage of Wilwood kits is they are a bolt-on, lower weight (good and bad), have better pads than typical parts store pads, and look nicer - especially if you have larger diameter, aftermarket wheels. If you scroll through Wilwood options for other muscle cars, you'll quickly realize the kits for AMCs are at the low-end ... as most demand is just for cruisers, so they kits work fine for that application. Best bang-for-the-buck is better than stock type pads and shoes. Higher CoF, higher temperature range - but typically also need upgraded tires to take full advantage. Hope this helps,RD
