401 from IH Travel All- Scout ii swap

The 304 heads on A 360/401 isn't conjecture, but has been proven by some rock crawlers out west. They make great toque under 4000 rpm and right off the line. A lot more than standard heads? Well, that I don't know. Most are running small runner intakes with 304 heads, not the Offy DP. The guys who swear by the DP are running standard heads. Since the heads are restricting flow at higher rpm I'd think the DP would work as well as any, but probably not boost torque much (or at all) with the small port heads.

If you're gonna run a 2V carb the 2100 is one of the best. EFI would be better, even TBI. Better mixture control and not affected by angles (depending on fuel feed system at the tank). A good 4V will be great. Only runs on half the carb most of the time, but you have the two extra barrels if you need more power.
