hey all,
i found an original side mirror for my 73 javelin. its with remote. now i am wondering how i am able to install that. do i have to disassemble the door panels for that?
are there any tipps for that somewhere. could anybody please help me?

You will have to remove the door panel to install the remote control for the mirror.
Also, there is a clamp that is attached to the door beam to keep the cable from moving around.
You may be missing the part. Here's some photos.
I should be able to answer any questions you have.

You'll also have to cut out a notch in the door panel. It looks the guys at the factory just did it with a jig saw.

On a 71-74 AMC Javelin the door panel trim is two piece with remote mirror.....it is hidden on the ends by the mirror bezel, so you could cut our original one piece trim

thanks a lot for your help. i will try everything out. hope the clamp is still there. but if not, couldnt i use something else to hold thec able?

Hey, Stefan. I doubt the clamp is there, since the car didn't come equipped with a remote mirror.
But you never know. you should be able to come up with some type of clamp though.

The factory clamp looks similar to the rad. overflow hose retainer. I'm sure a plastic cable tie would work as well.
Long time AMC fan. Ambassador 343, AMX 390, Hornet 360, Spirit 304 and Javelin 390. All but javelin bought new.
