Thinking about a GearVendors overdrive/underdrive for a 66 American project (401; T10). Interested in talking with anyone who has installed a GV unit in an AMC with T10. GV rep indicated that their unit works for AMX, with an adapter they make for the shifter. Not sure if I will have to modify the trans/drive shaft tunnel for the GV unit, will have to have the drive shaft shortened. It's a pricey unit, but converting to a T5 overdrive trans can also be pricey.

I don't think a GV unit is any cheaper than a T-5 or even a stronger five speed. If you're paying someone for the install overall cost might be a bit lower, but shouldn't be much. The GV unit is quite pricey -- around $3K for the unit, nearly $1K to install. With taxes you're looking at $4K easy. They aren't real hard to install though, easy enough if you can change a clutch.
