It may be a different part number, but I have to wonder if that would work on the later cars where the cable runs along the left side of the floor and out a hole under the seat - there's a grommet there the cable runs through. I'd expect if the cable diameter was the same and the hole in the floor was the same as that in the firewall for the American, it would be a fit. Unless judges start looking for the perfect grommet with the correct part number, well.....

Just a curiosity question, what material are you using for the grommet itself? Is it something pourable that could be used for other rubber parts?
