GAGING REPRODUCTION INTEREST:

I recently purchased a very rare NOS part for our Americans – a Front Emergency Brake Cable Grommet to Firewall (3171663). These grommets are rare as hens teeth. If you have ever taken the front cable out, then you know why these are needed. If you have not taken one out yet, you won’t fully understand. All of them are cut up and torn to some degree upon removal, and look like the first photo see below.

I have already documented the NOS item (slightly deformed and cannot be used as a casting model) with a 3D solids model and complete drawing (see the NOS part / drawing below). I have started discussions with another orphan car low volume grommet maker, and I‘m at the phase now where it is time to spend money to take it to some level of production.

What I need to know is how many of you out there recognize the need for this item in your parts inventory or to be a part of your current restoration project. In low volume, this won’t be cheap, but I can tell you, if I were you I wouldn’t hold my breath looking for a cheap NOS one out there – they don’t exist. I don’t have a handle on price yet – but let’s say for the sake of discussion that I can make them available at the $20 mark. How many of you want at least one? These will fit all 1964 – 69 Americans.

Discussion please!

Seems like a pretty universal part, any chance it would fit the amx and javelins? Would make for a lot bigger market.

These grommets are unique to just the 64 - 69 Americans.  Parts books show a different assembly design altogether for the bigger cars and AMX/Jav.

The good part is that it fits all models of late Americans including RHD versions.
