Can anybody tell me where the fusable link is located on a 71 Javelin AMX 401 auto car. I'm having charging problems and the alternator and voltage regulator check out.
Thanks
Steve

Follow the wire up to the solenoid. Attaches beneath the + battery cable. You'll see a black lump of rubber where it connects to the alt wire.

Thanks. If that fails would it cause the alternator to not charge the battery?  If that is true, then how do I repair it?

What is the fuction of the fuseable link? I was told that in a overheating, overcharge situation it would pop to prevent an electrical fire?

Fusible link protects against electrical spikes, if they blow it is usually a wiring issue, like exposed wire rubbing against metal or similar and can be a sign of a bad altenator.

Charging problems??

Check the grounds.

Check the connectors, the wires might be corroded
