Took my old tank out today to replace it with a new one. When I pulled the pickup assembly out it came out with the pickup filter part still in the tank. Do these filters simply slide onto the tube? The fit seems loose - prone to coming off? Also the float was attached to the level arm on the outer groove not the center groove. Looks like it was needed to clear the pickup filter? Is that correct?
Is there a place to get some adhesive backed rubber strips to go onto the tank support straps?

The filter ends just slip on. 5/16" factory line, you can get a Ford Mustang or any other make/model filter for 5/16" tubing. I don't know of any rubber inserts for the tank straps. There usually aren't any from the factory -- the fuel gauge sending unit grounds through the tank. If you use rubber straps you might want to add a ground wire to the sending unit. Just sand the fuel line nipple and wrap and solder a wire around the base, ground other end to body.
