A few minutes with a calculator tells me that 400 lb/ft of torque at 4000 rpm with a 304 requires a torque ratio of 1.31, and a BMEP of around 198. Not impossible with a naturally aspirated engine, but it IS a pretty dern tall order.
That's territory few amateur engine builders tread on. |

Buzzman72...void where prohibited, your mileage may vary, objects in mirror may be closer than they appear, and alcohol may intensify any side effects.

I would try setting it up for 300hp at 5000RPM, and do 100HP NOS. You'll get 400HP at 5000RPM and be happy with street driving. |
