In a different forum I am in some engineers with too much time made a machine that pressure tested various filters. A lot of Frams collapsed at around 70 psi and allowed oil to go around the paper filter. The Baldwins and Wix passed. They did not test Purolator. I'm pretty sure NAPA gold are made by Wix but they also passed the pressure tests.

Maybe Ferrari' V-12's don't have high oil pressure, but that is what you will see on them, in fact, they use (2) of the Orange Fram filters.

I've had top notch mechanics tell me (AMSOIL/WIX...made by AMSOIL, or NAPA). I've seen too many engines ruined by Fram.

Have personaly seen where the Frams did not have anti bleeddown valves. Seen one that had the additive plug an oil pump with 13000 miles on it. Wouldn,t put one on some ones vehicle I didn,t like

Hmm I have Fram in most of my cars, not an issue.  If it's not leaking and seals properly to the block (also not leaking) I don't really see how it could affect oil pressure all that much... unless they're clogged of course.

Fram and several other companies had a quality control issue about 10 years ago that resulted in bad filters on the market for about a year. The filters didn't all fail, but in most high performance applications they did. Normal street driving with a car in good condition wasn't an issue, so the filters weren't recalled. The problem was at a particular plant in Mexico, so not ALL Fram filters were affected, but apparently the lower volume models (like for most AMC applications) were. May have been a few of the higher volume filters also -- there was never an official word put out. They just let the bad ones (well, let's be fair and say MARGINAL instead!) sell out. Don't know if they corrected the issue at the plant or changed sources, but the issue was fixed. Took a year or more to get the marginal ones through, and that hurt the reputation of the company for a lot of people. They sell mostly through low cost chain stores, didn't affect overall sales much.

Well I went on a little spending spree last night for the Rambler and the Monte... (WS6 will get Royal Purple)

Hopefully they're not as bad as all the claims lol I've had zero issues to date though.

I just had a fram filter cause me to loose all oil pressure, eventually changed filters, now I am at 50 PSI cold. Will never use one again.
