does any body know how much has to be machined off a bridged rocker head to convert it over to a screw in stud type ? thanks

I believe it is .375. If it was my engine, I would prefer to have the guide plates on hand, due to potentially differing thickness between the various suppliers out there.

I believe it is more like a 1/4 inch PLUS the thickness of the guide plate, so the .375 sounds about right.

There are several different thickness guys have cut them off depending on the studs used and the installed spring height. At minimum your going to cut them the thickness of the guide plate. You are using the correct guide plates that have the slight bend and the large hole in the middle aren't you?

IIRC, mine had around 0.200" machined off. I'd mock it up with your rockers, cam, pushrods, guide plates, studs and check before machining ... you know ... measure twice, cut once!! Or if it's not an overly aggressive application, go with the Scorpion or Harland Sharp bolt-on kit for pedestal mount. Hope this helps,RD.

motor is going to be a 11.5 to 1 with the big chamber heads i have the bridged rockers now wanting to go with a 600 lift cam or there abouts have not decided yet on that part and i know the bridged can not run that big of a cam

Steel bridged holds up well to about 0.510" and I've seen 0,540" but I think that's pushing the envelope.
0.600" is roller for sure. With that lift your also looking at higher spring pressures when selecting the rockers. Look at the rocker manufacturer specs. General guidelines: Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft: 110 lbs Seat pressure/250-280 lbs open pressure Solid Flat Tappet Camshaft: 130 lbs Seat Pressure/300-325 lbs open pressure Hydraulic Roller Camshaft: 130 lbs Seat Pressure/300- 325 lbs open pressure Solid Roller Camshaft: (Minimum Safe Pressures) Up to 0.600˝ valve lift: 200-235 lbs Seat Pressure/600 lbs open pressure; over 0.600˝ valve lift: 250-280 lbs Seat pressure /100 lbs pressure for every 0.100˝ of valve lift |

I don't know the max lift but jsworthy's builds wit the LS bridge roller rockers seem like a very good, durable option. Should certainly be stronger then individual roller rocker setups.
Have a look at his 360 and 304 "dyno" posts.
