This year it doesn't conflict with The Ocean City Cruise.

If there is enough participation, the track owner said that he would give us our own class.  I don't mind seeing AMC, Rambler and Jeep products whooping up on Mopars though.

All,  I left out 2 important details regarding the racing.

The first was that we had Gary Keller and his 10 second Rambler Wagon on the track.  Gary cut the second best RT during qualifying.  The car is well known both at the track and around the town.  Gary told me he used it to move lawn furniture and even took it to Home Depot from time to time.

The other thing was that there were two pair of father/son racers in the mix.  During Test and Tune or qualifying, I know one pair lined up against each other.  I don't know if there were any grudge matches but what a great place to settle your differences and have fun!  We had 4 round of racing but could have supported more.

The track has a Mopar Day in May put on by the Owner, Elmer.  It conflicts with the spring Ocean City Cruise and we don't usually see many AMCs at the track either for Show or Go.  We do get 2 or 3 that usually go pretty deep in the rounds. I will post next years date for anyone who wants to Race.

VR,
Dave

Guys,

We had 14 race cars, Gremlins, A Spirit, A Hornet, and a bunch of AMXs.  One of the AMXs was a SS AMX out getting shook down and doing really well in the eliminations.  There was a BBG and a BBO AMX out on the track.  The Top 3 cars split the $500 purse.  There was lots of AMC Power mixed with a couple LS mils and a 350.  The AMX who's driver had the best reaction time in qualifying had a fire at the end of his run that took out some of his wiring and ended his day.

We had 26 Show cars on the show field.  There was another SS AMX and a variety of good looking cars.  The Midnight Rambler from Hot Rod Power Tour was over in the vending area and an AMX was seen parked as a spectator because he had to leave for another appointment.  I wanted to invite an AMX 3 but couldn't find the contact info for the owners.

The Match Racers were tearing up the quarter mile with 49 year old  4- speed cars, hitting 150 MPH in the quarter.  I was in the Track Office looking at the second run and both cars were exactly the same across the board except for MPH.  There was a 290 AMX rumored to be spinning 9000 RPM, he was fast, too.

It was a little wet on the grounds around the track.  It has rained pretty steady in Maryland since May so that wasn't a big surprise.  We didn't have enough volunteers to make everything run smooth but that is pretty normal.  Perhaps we need to scale back on some of the things we try to do at these events.  We didn't sell all our event hats and will probably go back to Event Shirts in the future.

Next up for the Potomac Ramblers will be to attend All AMC Day on October 27.  The Potomac Ramblers are having a our Annual Membership Meeting / Show / Auction / Picnic in Upper Marlboro on November 3.  All are welcome.

I wonder what happened in Canada on September 29, 2018?

All,

This is not All AMC Day.  As stated that has been rescheduled to October 27.

ECAD has never been a "dud."  We usually have between 30 and 40 AMCs at the event.  I would say we usually get about 10 racers and 10 vendors.  Typhoon is probably sees 30 or 40 AMCs at the Tim Hortons (they got 3 of them!)

I would drive 9 hours to see 30 or 40 AMCs, a Match Race, Drag Racing, a raffle and 10 or so vendors.  Further more, this year we are sharing the track with the Pontiacs.  Maybe we will see an AMX race a GTO.

I can't blame typhoon for not wanting to make the trip.  We hear complaints from the people in Eastern PA and New Jersey that Mason Dixon is too far away.

I'm planing to go to both the Mason Dixon Show and then the Cecil Show next month. Mason Dixon is hosted by Potomac Ramblers Club and Cecil is hosted by Mid Atlantic AMC Club. So the two clubs will have club members showing, and DVAMO AMC Club will be attending. Mason Dixon tends to be a little bigger these days for Show Field participation, but this could be because of the very Hot Summer weather in the past at Cecil. The rescheduled Fall Cecil Show, in the cooler October 27th date should bring higher participation this year. Both Shows had vendors and racers.

Here are a couple You Tube Videos I made for each of these events from previous years Shows. Others have posted You Tubes as well, that will give you a feel for what it's like.

If the weather is good this might be a good turnout as Cecils rescheduled date is October 27TH. The way this crazy weather has been we might have to put studded snowtires on our cars. Now that would be some interesting burnouts. Lol!
