Is there a specific or universal hub adapter i should look for when putting on an aftermarket steering wheel? I have a 64 American 440 Convertible and need a hub adapter for a wood rally wheel I just purchased.
Thanks! Mark |

I used a Mustang II adapter on my '65 American. It had to be slightly modified but worked well. Maybe someone out there used another adapter.

Rocklandrambler.
That's funny a Mustang II. My 62 Classic SW has the spear of death and a Mustang II steering wheel fit the splines. But a late model 70s GM wheel also fit but was ugly. The Mustang II wheel only needed a re position of the horn contact. I don't know when AMC switched over to GM style columns. The original poster never said what make steering wheel. GRANT?, MOMO? etc Nick |

AMC made the switch to GM columns in '67. That's why Grant steering wheels doesn't list an adaptor prior to that year.

Thanks for all the info. My steering wheel is from the early 60’s and was used on the corvair sprint car. So early GM style wheel that I’m putting on a 64 Rambler American 440 steering column.
Let me know if this helps. Mark |

here's what i did long ago. same should fit the big cars of the same year, but as others mention you need to do some fabrication to make it all come together. |
