Hey Gents!

We wanted to let you know that our latest AMC offering is now complete! Our Small Body car headers are up on our website now, and available in sizes up to 1-7/8" with up to 3-1/2" collector.

WE'RE RUNNING A MEMORIAL DAY SALE! 10% OFF AND FREE SHIPPING TO THE LOWER 48!
RIGHT NOW UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH.
USE PROMO CODE: MDW10

  • This header proved to be a bit more challenging than the run of the mill header, mainly due to the intricate flange design which requires CNC machining for clearance around the spark plugs and cylinder head bolts. If you never want to make another investment in headers, we assure you it just doesn’t get any better than this, and it’s backed by a lifetime guarantee for quality and workmanship.

ALL American Racing Headers Exhaust Systems are for OFF-ROAD use only.

Very nice!

Just curious, what makes a header a "Small Body Header" vs. a "Big Body Header"? I know some of the headers designed for e.g. a Javelin or AMX are too wide to fit a Hornet or Gremlin, but the headers that fit a "small body" will often fit the bigger cars. Typically the small body headers make starter installation more of an adventure and may have more clearance issues to transmission, shifter linkage, etc. plus limited selection of primary pipe diameters.

So question is, will the AR Small Body Headers fit a Javelin or AMX without compromising other things? Is there much difference in vertical installed height from head ports to collector?

Jan's video and the photos of the big-body headers with 3" collector appeared to have significant clearance to the floor pan, but inadequate clearance between right side header for anything other than a standard-width oil pan. The small body headers appear to have significantly improved pan clearance and a tighter overall package.

Photos from AR's site for comparison:

Thanks,RD.

Will the small body headers fit a 4 speed 71 Hornet SC/360 ? I wouldn't think a/c and power steering would affect any fitment, would it?

Dennis,

There were quite a few. Like the Oldsmobile world, it takes time for folks to realize that these headers cost more for reasons that are quite obvious. For many there's a revelation the moment they're pulled out of the box and bolted up. They realize they've made a wise investment. Our headers are made to outperform and outlast anything ever offered period. We now sell Olds headers almost on par with Chevelle small and big block headers. That's saying something.

I'm confident AMC enthusiasts will step up and demand the best now that it's actually available!! Personally I'm thrilled that I'm in a position to be able to help this community.

Sonic, I wouldn't think so. They should bolt right up but keep in mind that we do offer a money back guarantee with no restocking fee if they don't work. I'm that confident. There's a 10% off Memorial Day Sale with free shipping to the lower 48 States going on till May 31st. This is a great time if you're on the fence.
